Therapy for Low Self Esteem
Living with Low Self-Esteem
Low self-esteem can result in you feeling miserable, with your self-doubt and negative inner voice constantly preventing you from living a happy or content life.
Despite trying and trying, nothing ever feels good enough, which is incredibly frustrating and draining. Lack of self-confidence can be about ourselves as an employee, as a partner, as a parent or as a friend. It can also be about our personality or our appearance.
Phrases I commonly hear clients say about themselves include I’m not good enough, I’m a failure, I’m useless, I’m a burden, I’m letting them down, I’m stupid, I’m boring, I’m ugly, no-one likes me. All of these are incredibly toxic message to be saying to ourselves and usually have no basis on reality

How Does Low Self-Esteem Therapy
Therapy for low self-esteem enables you to see yourself as you are, to believe in yourself, and therefore be able to make the steps forwards that you want for your future. At Hannah Paskin Therapy, I use effective strategies that have been proven to help people overcome low self-esteem or poor self-confidence.
Therapy for low self-esteem will help you to understand and address the root of the problem. This will involve looking back at the past, to help you understand your thinking and actions now, to better enable you to recognise and change the unhelpful cycles.
Therapy sessions will include a focus on increased self-awareness, alongside helping you to overcome negative thinking and self-criticism. This in turn will allow you to do things like accept compliments, speak up for yourself, be more decisive, try new experiences, strengthen relationships, and make progress forwards in your career.

My Therapy Sessions
Low Self-Esteem is an increasingly present problem in my therapy room. Each generation have their own set of challenges that impact on confidence. For some it’s the expectations to be ‘strong’, for others it’s the competing priorities of a career and family life, for others it’s the pressures to ‘succeed’, for others it’s the image-orientated focus of the social media world.
Low Self-Esteem is particularly difficult as it often combines symptoms of depression and anxiety. Therapy will help you to make sense of what is going on and why and learn a new way forwards that allows you to thrive and live your best life, and most importantly to feel good enough.
